About the village
Bélmegyer is home to about a thousand people, mostly Reformed Calvinists and Catholics. The village is located in Békés county, between Békés and Vésztő, approximately 10 kms away from each (marked on the map with the red dot).
The county is one of the warmest areas of Hungary: according to the Hungarian
Meteorologic al Service, in 2012, the number of sunny hours in the region was
approx. 2645, making the local climate similar to that of the Mediterranean areas.

A hunter's mansion can be found a few kilometres from the village, in Vésztő there is a scenic historical site, and the famous Aquapalota and thermal bath can be found in the town of Gyula, along with several museums incl
uding the Liszt Ferenc Memorial House and the Gothic 15th century brick castle, which also serves as a stage for summer performances.
